Hi! I’m Kerry and I’m allergic to the gym. Okay, not really, but it’s felt that way for most of my life. I’m that person who faked a knee injury to avoid volleyball in high school gym class, who looked forward to her period as another way out of gym, and who has a very tortured relationship with a certain Canadian fitness chain as an adult.
I’m blogging here, at Overcoming Gymnausea, to share with you all my experience at trying to get a healthier relationship with food, fitness, and my body. I’m looking forward to having you share your experiences with me!
I’m attaching two photos of me: one from last June,
and one from last month.
I’ve come a long way in 9 months, but I’ve got another 50 or so pounds to go. It’s going to be quite a ride!

Hi! I found your blog via searching for information on Fitness Ridge. YOU are an absolute inspiration. I love your writing, you have made me laugh out loud on numerous occassion, and you have inspired me to start my own blog.
After reading your last entry, I finally decided to introduce myself. I’ve also struggled with my weight FOREVER. And just this past summer I was admitted into the Pyschiatric Ward not once, but twice. My life, depression, and anxiety had finally caught up to me. Its great to hear that your have the support of your friends and family! Mental Illness is a very difficult illness for many people to understand. And its now something that I talk about at any chance I get… I feel that if I can educate just one person about it.. I’ve done good.
I’m Jody, Regina, Saskatchewan and a suicide attempt survivor AND incredibly proud of it.
